Ultra-2 SCSI Host Port
The TA80 integrates Qlogics FAS446 enhanced high performance single chip SCSI controller. This controller is compliant with the SCSI Parallel Interconnect-2 standard and supports both single-ended and low-voltage differential SCSI mode operations.
At the core of the TA80 is the DMA engine which provides an internal transfer rate of 268Mbytes/sec to ensure a sustained HOST SCSI channel transfer rate of 80Mbytes/sec whilst maintaining 40Mbytes/sec on each SLAVE SCSI channel.
Dual LVD SCSI SLAVE ports Two independent ULTRA WIDE SCSI ports compliant with the ANSI SCSI Parallel Interconnect-2 (SPI-2) standard. Each port supports both Single-Ended and Low Voltage Differential mode operations and are capable of providing simultaneous sustained 40Mbytes per second synchronous data transfers.
Multiple Functionality
- Mirror Mode for disaster recovery and off-site backup.
- Cascade Mode automatically writes data to second tape drive when first tape full.
- Off-line Copy/Verify Mode allows tape copying and verification without host intervention.
Mixed Tape Technology Supports 4mm, 8mm, AIT, DLT and many other tape drives in either the same type or mixed configurations.
Microcode/Emulation Update
Flash Memory technology enables easy on-site installation of microcode from tape via the front panel MENU mode or alternatively via the serial RS232 port. This facility provides the flexibility to adapt connectivity to a wide range of computer systems.
Self-Test Diagnostics
A unique set of diagnostic tests are initiated at power on to check all Hardware functions and system integrity. The status of each test is indicated on the LCD.
LCD Front Panel
During operation the intelligent LCD front panel displays real-time drive and controller status, e.g. Drive Recovered Error Rate, Compression Ratio, Transfer Rates, Operating Mode, Data Transfer Count, Drive On-Line and Write Enabled.
RS232 Port
Provides a Serial communication link to a host computer, modem or terminal enabling remote configuration reporting, modification and real-time controller status information.
