Versatile Backup Intelligence for Tape DrivesThe TA40 IBM 3590* controller enables two IBM 3590* Tape Drives to write/read data in Mirror, Stripe & Cascade modes, plus the ability to duplicate tapes when the unit is off-line from the host system.
More Information on...
Mirror Mode simultaneously generates two identical data tapes for disaster recovery and off-site back/archive, with NO PERFORMANCE PENALTY over a standard single drive. Mirror Mode is the ideal solution for SEISMIC operation where two tapes are nearly always required
Stripe Mode provides fast back-up by "striping" the data across two tapes (doubles effective drive transfer rate).
Cascade automatically writes data to second tape drive when first tape full.
Off-line Copy/Verify allows tape copying and verification without host intervention, between drives A & B or B & A gives a throughput for non compressed data of 8MB/s.
The Host interface is Ultra Wide SCSI-3, Single Ended or Differential (40MB/s).
The Slave interfaces are Fast/Wide (20MB/s), Single Ended or Differential (Ultra 40MB/s, Qtr 2/98).
