Retrospect Server Backup for Macintosh
- Designed for use in small and midsize businesses,
Retrospect Server runs on a Mac OS 9 or Mac OS X (10.1.2 or later)
server and backs up as many as 100 networked clients, including Apple
Macintosh, Microsoft Windows, and Red Hat Linux desktops and notebooks
as well as servers running Mac OS X Server (10.1.2 or later).
Retrospect Server can be expanded with additional client licenses. It
utilizes proven automated technology to provide easy administration,
complete protection for networked computers, and fast backups with 100%
accurate restores.

Add Ons:
Open File Backup: Open File Manager allows files to be backed up
even if they are opened and being used. This is important to ensure
proper backup of server applications such as Exchange, SQL Server,
customer relationship management applications, and accounting packages,
which are up and running 24 hours a day. For desktop and notebook
computers, files such as those that contain email messages or calendar
appointments can be backed up while they are being used.
Proactive Client Backup: Proactive Client Backup
ensures that no computers get starved from being backed up, even if the
time required to do the backups exceeds the time allotted to do the
backups. This is especially important when client machines such as
desktops and notebooks are being backed up. Proactive Client Backup
keeps track of which machines it has backed up, so it can resume
backups efficiently during the next scheduled backup session. Notebooks
are automatically detected and backed up before they leave the network.
Disaster Recovery: Dantz Retrospect can create disaster recovery
CDs for the server. While other vendors require that the Disaster
Recovery CD be created when the computer is alive, Dantz Retrospect can
create a Recovery CD for a computer that is already dead. Retrospect
gathers the data required as a normal part of backing up the computer.
The Disaster Recovery process installs the operating system, restores
system settings, and finally restores the computer's entire hard drive
to any point-in-time. Systems with RAID controllers, which require
low-level device drivers, are also supported. Upgrades version 5.6 or
earlier.
Exchange Agent: Exchange Agent allows Exchange files to be
backed up even if they are opened and being used. This is important to
ensure proper backup of files which are up and running 24 hours a day.
For desktop and notebook computers, files such as those that contain

Client (6.0) Pro Only: Client licenses extend the capability of
Retrospect Professional to back up and restore more than 2 client
computers. Client computers can be running Windows or Macintosh
